FAQ - Frequently asked questions
·
What is GPS?
GPS stands for Global Positioning System. It is a worldwide radio-navigation system formed from
24 orbiting satellites and its ground tracking stations. The system uses
satellites as reference points to calculate positions anywhere on earth or in
the air.
·
I can’t get any satellite signals (indoors). Why?
GPS signals cannot penetrate buildings, therefore you cannot determine your location indoors. You can receive GPS signals outdoors. Nearby tall buildings can also block GPS signals.
·
Are there any subscription fees for the GPS signals?
No. GPS signals are transmitted to your receiver (HP6515) free of charge. You should be able to receive GPS signals 24 hours a day, 7 day a week.
·
How many satellites need to be locked on to
determine my location?
At least 4 satellites.
·
Where can I find the user manual for the SmartNav software?
The user manual is in PDF format and a copy is found in the SD card (bundled with HP6515) under the “Manual” folder. Please transfer this file to your desktop PC for viewing. Adobe Acrobat Reader software is required.
